Pegasus Dreams

I had a dream once that was very vivid. I dreamed of Pegasus, the winged horse. It was a huge white steed, noticeably strong in statue and had beautiful golden illuminating wings. I remember being in awe of this creature, and was talking with him. No one else but me could see him. After our communication, I remember him flying boldly straight up into the sky on departure.

They say that to dream of Pegasus, means a calling to create your expressions of beauty through whatever creative means you desire. It has also become a symbol of immortality and the protector of the spirit, the guardian of the soul. I have been drawn to horses since I was old enough to remember; I consider them one of my totems.

In mythology, Pegasus was an immortal, winged horse who sprang forth from the neck of Medousa when she was beheaded by the hero Perseus. Pegasus was said to be tamed by Bellerophon who rode him into battle against fire-breathing Khimaira. The hero attempted to fly to the heavens, but the horse bucked (influenced by the gods) and threw him back to earth. The horse then winged it’s way to the heavens to be in Zeus’ stables. Pegasus is one star in a constellation.

The 51 Pegasi, a star in the Pegasus constellation is the first Sun-like star, discovered in 1995 (51 light years from earth) known to have an extra solar planet, that is, a planet orbiting a sun that was a twin or ours. It is visible from the Earth with binoculars, or with the naked eye under dark sky conditions.

I Am

I am the soulful and blue eyed girl next door
I wonder what I, and the world will be like in 10 years time
I hear silence in the pulsing velvety nights
I see flickers of spirit lights from time to time
I want you to hold my hand, let’s be adventurers of life
I am the soulful and mysterious girl next door

I pretend that everything is okay when I’ve been hurt
I feel people’s energy, their motives, their soul
I touch the stars, the planets, the universe
I worry when people don’t see the beauty of their soul
I cry when you hurt, or when  you open your heart
I am the soulful and blue eyed girl next door

I understand frustration, and battling on one’s own
I say that Love is everything in life
I dream of my soul mate, and feeling the energy of life
I try to inspire you, and open your mind
I hope that you will awaken to your own Power
I am the soulful and blue eyed girl next door

Escape the Real World…

Find a little nook, a cosy sofa…A spot under a tree, with the spring or summer sun shinning…Your beautiful garden….A lovely earthy cafe….a book is a great solitary splendor where you can go off to another time, place, world

The pleasures of sleeping as mother nature intended, the spanish well know the art of siestas and naps, and I know on some days when at work I wish I could hide somewhere and grab some 15 minutes to recharge and escape. Energy is restored, confusion and minds made clear, the body heals, and we travel off (in soul) to unknown places and we dream the most amazing things.

Plan a retreat, whether at home or a weekend away…just do it. When you feel you need to escape, had enough of the trudge of work, it’s time to retreat and pull yourself together, mind body and spirit. Plan a monthy retreat,  you have so many options.

What more obvious way to escape reality than leaving where you are and going someplace else?  Where would you go, somewhere new or old? Find a place that resonates with you. Travel is inspiring and when you have had enough, just pack a bag and head for the road. Plan that road trip and have fun thinking about the little places you can stop on the way.

Creative Visualisation
See your dreams and act them out as if they are happening now, that you already have them. Use your senses to imagine sight, smell, touch, hearing and feeling. What stories or events make you happy. You can create a new event or relive and feel something from the past that brings you much joy.

Watch a Movie
Go and find some movies that make you feel good! or take you to a different place or fantasy…and enjoy the trip!

Do you have any other ideas??

Tantra – the way of acceptance

Tantra says ‘ You say yes. You say yes to everything. You need not fight, you need not even swim – you simply float with the current. The river is going by itself, on its own accord, everything reaches to the ultimate ocean. You simply don’t create any disturbance, you don’t push the river, you simply go with it’.

That ‘going with it’ or ‘ going with the flow’, floating or relaxing with it is Tantra. If you say yes, a deep acceptance happens to you. If you say yes, how can you be complaining. How can you be miserable? Then everything is as it should be. You are not fighting, not denying, you accept.

Tantra says a transformation is possible, but not destruction. And a transformation comes when you accept your total being. Then suddenly everything falls in line, everything takes its own place, then anger, greed or frustration is absorbed. Then without trying to cut anything out of your being, your whole being rearranges itself.

Going with the Flow – the lesson to learn

In reflecting on this I feel I don’t walk the talk sometimes. I yearn and stand for freedom, travel, adventure, change, yet I am constantly placed in situations to test myself in the waters – will I flow with it or will I try tread water in something out of my control? I feel I am meant to learn the true meaning of freedom, and to do this in a constantly changing world, I need to be adaptable and courageous. I see now how my health relates to this also, it has required adaptability and courage on many levels. I notice when things don’t go as I expect or hope, I get disappointed. But who am I to say that what I projected as a story in my mind, was the best outcome in the first place? What is fighting against a change going to do for me? Nothing. I have to learn to choose how to react.

A day or so a go, I dreamed of lizards, there were many of them big and small and when one lost it’s tail, it just let it go and still survived! I’ve always liked lizards even as a little girl (I would catch and hold them). In reading about the symbolism of them I discovered:

They represent flexibility, survival and adaptability to an environment, and symbolic to the human psyche of ‘Going with the Flow’ and overcoming adverse external conditions. They are also escape artists, and may represent recognising danger (challenges) and removing (detaching) ourselves from a situation. When a lizard is caught by a predator or trap, it’s tail simply pops off and then grows back. May be it is reminding me to let things go and be more detached – to make the best of situations I cannot control. Lizards are self sufficient, resilient and a reminder that I am strong and a survivor.

So here’s what I am going to try and do to help myself:

Let things go

let go of my resistance to certain circumstances, my attachment to specific outcomes in my daily experiences, and desire to control everything that happens. Learn to be in the moment, be still, stop fighting, stop struggling, and resist, and just Accept.

Open my mind

observe what I am feeling, but don’t judge or change it, just experience them. Be present in the situation. Rather than focusing on the way I want things to be, just stay with what is right now. Be okay with this, instead of swimming against the current.

See the positive

find the joy or positives in the present circumstance and focus on that. Be grateful for them.

Choose to flow

rather than focus on how I’m not in the flow, choose to get in the flow.  If I experience challenges, say to myself, “It’s okay, I’m going with the flow, I’m not going to resist, I will just flow with it”. Relax and have faith that this is where I need to be right now.

What’s in a name? who is Siannaphey

“You are all here, we’ll share with you every moment of your life and we will ask you to understand your spiritual incarnation and your spiritual name and try to find out the strength to live it.  Without finding that strength to live your spiritual identity, life will be a waste and we don’t want it to be wasted.” ~ Yogi Bhajan

I want to share the story of the name you see for my blog. The name Siannaphey came to me in my early teens during what I would say was a spiritual transitioning stage of my life, one of understanding my connectedness to life, the energy in the world and exploration of various cultural spiritualities that I felt compelled to read up about and  understand. In particular, I remember I felt very drawn the the Celts, and I would draw or see a woman bearing a moon crescent tiara or crown!. So I have carried this name for many many years, and I have learned to see it like an archetype or ancestoral blueprint connected to my soul. I never thought about what it may mean, it came to me and stayed. Further into this blog I will touch upon a possible meaning on this!

I understand there are cultures or spiritual paths (i.e native american, wiccans/pagans, kundalini yoga) which assign alternative names, or spiritual names, and for some it is believed to reinforce and accelerate your spiritual path and destiny – almost like a rebirth in consciousness. That in using your spiritual name in your meditations you are raising your energetic vibrations and connecting with your true soul nature – almost like a road map to your spiritual destiny. Perhaps like a mantra it is a reminder of who you are, and as you connect,  it points to where you are going.

N. Scott Momaday, in The Names: A Memoir, writes about the meaning of who we are that is contained and not contained in our names. Names, in other words, are mysterious, sometimes revealing sometimes concealing our identity or the identity of a people or place. Interestingly, I once had a dream in 1994 about the metaphysics of names. I explained that names were really not important, only our souls are. I explained to a group of people that we are all One, but we name ourselves to give  individuality in a conscious world where we cannot ‘see’ the spirit that we are. Perhaps a name hints at something deeper within us?

So what’s in the name Siannaphey (Sh-ee-un-a-fey)?

I think it was about 11 years ago when I was part of an online spiritual community forum, where I met a lovely soul with a great interest in celtic/gaelic mysticism. She helped me decode and awaken the name and spirit of Siannaphey. My friend believed that our past and future are imprinted within all of us, and that the name could have come to me as a modern clan name or soul reborn of ancient peoples. In doing some research and connecting with my intuition, poems, art or words that had come to me in my earlier years, I discovered the irish goddess Sinann.

Exploring the name:

(Sianna) Sinann (aspect of the Goddess) was a blonde haired goddess of the Tuatha de Danann celtic tribe, and granddaughter of the sea god Lir, daughter of Lodan,  associated and named after the river Shannon, the longest river in Ireland.”Shannon” is how “Sinann” is pronounced, more or less.

Some myths describe Sinann as originally a mortal woman who searched for the Well of Knowledge. In this well lived the Salmon of knowledge, and nuts fallen from nine magical hazel trees (believed to contain éigse, the spirit and inspiration of poetry. The hazelnut, with its round hard shell and nutritious core is a symbol of the heart in many folk tales.). When she is gathering up nuts, and opening up the covers, she loses her footing and falls in. The pool is angered or challenged and rises up over her and sweeps her down into the sea, thus birthing the river, which still carries her name. In doing so she was rebirthed into the goddess Sinann. Although it seems like a sad story because she dies, in actuality it describes the stage of death and rebirth, that in seeking sacred knowledge, she was transformed into a goddess.

I have also read that the waters rising and washing things away on either side is a strong mark of fertility of the lands when the feminine power or energy is aroused, and responding to the seasons, weather, invocations and offerings of the people of the time. That when she is washed through the lands, she returns to her ancestoral beginnings, to the source, and connects to all rivers and wells. It’s a very feminine energy that flows, blesses and creates depths of the womb.

(Phey) Fey -in gaelic the name Shannon is Sidhe Anann meaning “Faery of the River Goddess”. Fae/Fay/Faery -is a type of mythical being or legendary creature, a form of spirit, often described as metaphysical, supernatural or preternatural.Faeries are related to wells and water. The fairies in celtic mythology were humans with supernatural power.

About the Tuatha de Danann
The Tuatha de Danann (“People of the Goddess Danu”) were one of the mythical races who settled in Ireland before the arrival of the Milesians, the ancestors of modern Gaels. The Dananns were descendants of the goddess Danu. Her son Dagda was their most powerful leader of the Dananns. They were a race of deities and of heroes, skilled in art and science, poetry and magic.

“It is said, in the Book of the Dun Coe that wise men do not know the origin of the Tuatha De Danann, but that it seems likely they came from heaven, on account of their intelligence and for the excellence of their knowledge.” It is said that their hold on those in Ireland was so strong that not even the Christian transcribers could deny their existence as a non-human race of intelligent being in Ireland.

The Tuatha De Danann were in full control of Ireland when the Sons of Mil (Irish ancestors) came to the island. The Tuatha lost their island, but became known as the Fairy-Folk or the Sidhe of Irish Mythology and Folk Lore. When many talk of Ireland they talk of the human race the Celts as well as the invisible race of Fairies. There are many who treat this race as fiction and as “stories,” but there are Irish seers who today still say they see the Sidhe.

So could I be connecting with ancestoral or other worldly knowledge?  is Siannaphey…River Faery, Sinann of the Fey (Tuatha de Danann), Shannon of the Faeries? Either way it took me many years to discover and explore this name and how it may have come to be!

Ancient Stone Relics

(The words for this were revealed to me whilst in dream state 1994)

I walk upon these stones

like I walk upon a kingdoms throne

with grace I do not idle

for I see what must be seen

pure bliss and majesty

nature carved by stone

of relics still unknown

with energy from the past

a hand upon its warm grey surface

elates my spiritual senses

for brother, sister and my parents

have also touched where

these hands have been

but whence they did

in forgotten times, now nolonger seen

their reasons were of worship

to their heavenly kings and queens

Ancient Vespers

You’ll see me by moonlight

cast down by evening shades

where I sound the sombre sky

until evensong lies down to die

straddled upon my bold brown steed

I listen to the music of the night

the acoustic sound of creatures wild

sauntered in grasses emerald green

my appraisel as my sight serenes

I’m approached by a re-occuring dream

stout hearted and grisaille grey

eyes damask but mislay

the unicorn echoes its neigh

then eloping alert from my dream

tired, awed, I redeem

the messages of the night

(1992 – visualisation, a mystic land, see the beauty of nature, feeling auras)
